There were 1,398 students enrolled in East Cleveland City School District in the 2022-23 school year, 6.6% less than the previous year, according to the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were girls, and 48.4% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were Black, representing 97.9% of the East Cleveland City School District total enrollment.

East Cleveland City School District roughly covers five schools within Cuyahoga County and has a main office in East Cleveland.

Among the five schools in East Cleveland City School District, Shaw High School recorded the highest enrollment of 528 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In 2022, Ohio saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is an improvement for the state and is lower than the national average of 1:16.

Despite the apparent improvement, this positive trend is overshadowed by a general decline in public school enrollments, which was accelerated by the pandemic. This decline, aligned with the steady number of teachers in the state over the last 10 years, has led to low student-to-teacher ratios.
