Fall is in the air. Leaves turning colors and falling to the ground signify change is coming. That same ground amassing piles of leaves is the start of the new, developing aquatic and community center site. The site’s construction is quickly materializing, becoming a splendid visual locale for a destination that will emerge as the hub for the City of Mayfield Heights. For the last five months, the A.M. Higley Co. has made its base at the Marsol Road site with daily workers excavating and installing stormwater retention structures, sanitary piping, and water and electric lines. The underground work is nearly completed and allows the crew to turn their attention towards the pump pit and surge tanks for the new pool, followed by foundation work for the pool and community center.
Driving by the site, the almost complete service yard adjacent to the aquatic and community center is noticeable. This newly added portion of the Service Department is part of the overall project. The service yard is scheduled to be ready in time for fall leaf collection. To help conceal this area, a buffer was added and will be flanked with trees and a fence to divide the service yard from the aquatic and community center. Currently, the entire site on Marsol Road is being prepped for the winter season, where continued development will be seen in the coming months in preparation for the opening in the summer of 2023.
