Cleveland History Center issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
We get asked a lot how visiting a special collections library and archives is different from going to the public library.
Archives and special collection libraries do have some different rules for visiting and using the materials. For example, visitors can not check out items, have food or drink in the reading room, or browse the shelves like they would in a lending library. These rules can seem strange to new users, but they are in place to protect the unique materials in our collections!
The goal of our institution is to make the materials available to any interested visitors and the above rules help us ensure that collections are protected so visitors can view them for years to come!
Due to Covid-19, onsite access is currently restricted and protocols are subject to change, but you can still contact the WRHS Reference Staff at reference@wrhs.org or 216-721-5722 x1509 to see how we may help you meet any current questions remotely!
