A Tool to decrease crime and to create a safer community.
We all support a decrease in Crime in order to promote a safer Euclid community, our community.
After a proliferation of unreasonably loud and disruptive operations created by ATV-type vehicles has become more common and dangerous on the streets of Euclid, City Council, in collaboration with the Euclid Police Department and our Law Department, began to research how to best address this situation.
We were able to repeal and replace Traffic Code 375.03, already on our books with one that will provide our police officers with the necessary tools needed to stop these activities as they occur throughout the community.
On November 7, 2022, your Euclid City Council passed emergency ordinance 126-2022 to prohibit the operation of “snowmobiles, off-highway motorcycle/dirt bike and all-purpose vehicle/ATV-type vehicles”
From operating:
1. On any public space, street or highway within the city of Euclid.
2. On any private property without permission of the owner or person having the right to possession of the property. Operation on private property cannot be within 50 feet of any sidewalk, street or highway or any residence other than that of the vehicle owner.
3. They cannot park, stand or stop a snowmobile, off-highway motorcycle/dirt bike or all purpose vehicle/ATV-type vehicle on public property, public space, street or highway within the City of Euclid.
4. They cannot park or stand on the tracks or right of way of any operating railroad.
A law enforcement officer may impound a snowmobile, off-highway motorcycle/dirt bike, or all-purpose vehicle/ATV-type vehicle when:
1. The identity of the operator is unknown.
2. The operator has no proof of consent from the owner of the land to operate on private property.
3. The operator is in violation of any provision of this ordinance.
4. There is an accident resulting in property damage, injury or death that occurs while operated in violation of this ordinance.
5. Impoundment as required as evidence of a crime.
