Beachwood CAN, a community-wide campaign to support those who are food insecure, will be making one last call for donations before the holidays at Give Thanks Day hosted by Beachwood Place. The November 12 event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. near center court inside Beachwood Place. Non-perishable food and monetary donations will be accepted in addition to family fun opportunities. Music, crafts, games, giveaways, cotton candy and more are expected at no charge to attendees.
Beachwood CAN initially kicked off at the city’s annual fall festival on October 2 and food collection has continued at a variety of locations including: Beachwood Community Center, City Hall, the Cuyahoga County Library – Beachwood Branch and Beachwood Place.
“You can actually see our donations growing now inside Beachwood Place,” stated Heidi Yanok, Senior General Manager at Beachwood Place. “Our ultimate goal is to reach a combined total of at least $2,500 in food and donations. I really think we can get there and I am excited to see it all come together on November 12 to benefit the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.”
The City of Beachwood partnered on the food drive effort and will be planning the kids’ activities for November 12.
“It’s a great time of year to give back to those in need,” expressed Mayor Justin Berns. “We’re very thankful to everyone who has already donated to the food drive and we hope others will consider joining in as well."
