Annual awards presentation to be held October 19.
The Rotary Club of the Heights of Greater Cleveland will honor a Shaker Heights police officer and firefighter who exemplify the Rotary's motto, "service above self," on Wednesday, October 19, starting at 8am at Shaker Heights Fire House, 17000 Chagrin Blvd.
Members of the Rotary Club will present the 2021 Police Officer and Firefighter of the Year awards. Rotary President Adam Davis and member John Sobotincic will lead the awards program.
Detective Brian M. Walsh and firefighter Joseph Leibin will be honored for their service, each receiving a plaque and a monetary gift in the presence of guests and City officials, including Mayor David E. Weiss and members of City Council. The event is by invitation only.
The awards have been presented for nearly 30 years, with the first being presented to James Yarcusko (police) and Dean Charvat (fire) in 1992.
