The City of Beachwood has been recognized with an “Auditor of State Award of Distinction” by Keith Faber, Ohio’s Auditor of State, for a clean audit report. He says these awards honor public entities that have “put in hard work to keep their finances in order.”
Larry Heiser, Beachwood’s Finance Director, credited the work done by those in his department with ensuring that the city’s finances remain accurate and up to date.
“We are pleased that our hard work is reflected with this recognition and that the residents of Beachwood can rest assured the city’s finances are being handled in a highly responsible manner,” states Heiser.
The award is presented to local governments upon the completion of the annual financial audit. Winners meet the criteria of a clean audit based on each city’s superior record keeping which demonstrates a commitment to efficient, effective and transparent service. The award vetting process reveals the city’s elevated level of diligence required to keep finances in order.
Mayor Justin Berns praised Beachwood’s finance and audit departments for their outstanding work throughout the year.
“This clean audit award is a real point of pride for the entire community and shows that deadlines are being met and a close eye is kept on our entire financial portfolio. Residents should feel assured that fiscal accountability is fully present in Beachwood.”
The Auditor of State’s office audits more than 6,000 state and local government agencies and investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies.
