Heights High Student Wins Regional Poetry Out Loud Contest

Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District issued the following announcement on March 4.

Congratulations to freshman Samira Sisson who won the Regional Finals for Poetry Out Loud Contest for Cleveland Heights High School. She won by reciting the poems, "I 

Remember I Remember" by Thomas Hood and "Piano" by D.H. Lawrence. 

She will advance to the state-level competition to compete against students from across the state of Ohio on Friday, March 4 in Columbus, Ohio. The winner from the state-level 

competition will advance to the national competition which is held in Washington, D.C. 

Samira is one of six Ohio high school students competing for the title of 2022 Ohio Poetry Out Loud State Champion. The competition will be live-streamed at the WOSU Public 

Media Studio at 6:00 p.m.
