County of Stark recently issued the following announcement.
The Stark County Health Department will partner with Newsymom, a local blog and information website for mothers in surrounding communities, to highlight all of the services offered by the health department. The year long campaign will be complete with 12 videos and 4 articles that will inform citizens on how their health department can help them. The videos will include a focus on the environmental health, nursing, and administration service areas and the work that is done on a daily basis. The first video in the series will highlight safe drinking water for those residents that have a water well in Stark County.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Newsymom on this new marketing campaign for our health department,” said Director of Environmental Health Paul DePasquale, REHS, MPA. “This local resource for families and moms can help us further expand knowledge of our services for residents.”
Newsymom is helping to produce the videos that will be used on the health department’s website and social media. The health department chose safe drinking water and water wells as the first video for the new marketing campaign. In Stark County, there are nearly 50,000 water wells on residents’ properties. Understanding proper maintenance, how the system works, and how to keep drinking water safe are some important things to keep in mind.
“Our health jurisdiction is home to over 250,000 residents that consume water everyday. Households that do not have community water rely on water wells or other approved sources for their water that they use for cooking, bathing and drinking,” said DePasquale. “Your well is your responsibility. It is important to make sure everything is functioning safely. We can help.”
The health department saw 237 new water wells drilled in 2021. The instillation of new water wells are permitted, inspected, and tested by the health department. It is important for water wells to be tested annually. Any time there is a break in plumbing or a repair made, bacteria may enter the water. The health department completed 411 water sample tests in 2021. The campaign video also focuses on the various types of private water systems that residents may have.
“Through these videos, we hope our residents will learn something and use the information to help themselves and their families. The Stark County Health Department works for all residents as we strive to make our county a healthier place,” said DePasquale.
The Stark County Health Department will post the videos on social media channels and on www.starkhealth.org.
The Stark County Combined General Health District (Stark County Health Department) was founded in 1920 and is celebrating a century of health. The department is currently the ninth largest health district in the State of Ohio which serves the public health needs of over 250,000 people.
